I thought using a cd-rw you could drag files off of and on to the cd-rw without having to burn them on?kinda like a 2nd hd.
I get the following message-files on this cd-rom are ready only.???? You cannot copy or move files over to this cd-rom drive.

Using any type of software.....The only way im able to put anything on it is by using nero and physically burning them on there.... im not sure if that erases the current files on the cd-rw though

CD-RW drives can only accept drag-n-drop file transfers after the disk has been formatted to function as a drive letter.
The Nero S/W comes with the InCD packet burner software driver for this.
It should be loaded when Window starts & appear on the task bar.
If it is loaded, the insertion of a blank CD-RW disk should trigger the dialog from InCD asking if you want to format the disk to be used like an oversized floppy. Say YES, and the disk will be formatted to allow drag-n-drop.

I do not have nero running in the background,
I guess i will just open nero and search around for something of that matter

The newer CDRWs support a format called "Mount Rainier". This means that data can be dragged and dropped to a CD-RW just as if you were writing to a floppy or a hard disk. And the formatting goes on in the background.
