250 watts psu and BP6

Post by bambam »

I want to change my Duron 800 + KT7A mobo for a BP6 with 2x400@500 with all the current drive/cards i have:
1 hd,
1 floppy drive,
1 burner,
1 cdrom drive,
1 vibra16 isa sound card
2x 128 pc-133 sticks,
1 nic,
1 gf2mx
1x80mm fan,

Do you guys think I can run it without problem?

The PSU is a stock Enlight one, running strong for the past 3 years now. Never got voltage problem with it.

vcore @ 1.64, vdd @ 3.47, 3.3v @ 3.41, 5v @ 5.25 12v @ 12.13

Thanks

Should work, but you may roast the power supply (like I did) if it can't handle the constant delivery of that much power.

Thanks Derek for the fast reply and the cool bbs :)

I can remove stuff from it like the burner, floppy, sound. Its the only PC i'll have at home and I mainly do development on this PC.

Now the only thing I wish is to not have lots of trouble/freeze with it. I'm kinda afraid of that board. I have read lots of horror stories  :D

Heh :) Thanks!

I don't think you will have any problems. You haven't loaded the computer with tons of hardware and it looks like it's a good PSU.

bambam, I have also used a 250 W PSU for more than two years now (24/7) most of the time, without any problems I would blame the PSU for. Configuration in signature (add two fans for chipset and case).

Derek, what happened when your PSU died? Did it kill anything else?
BP6, RU BIOS, XP SP3, ACPI, 2x366@523(1,95V), Pentalpha HS + 1x 12cm fan @5V, 768MB, Powercolor Geforce 3, RTL8139D NIC, Terratec EWS64L, Samsung M40 80GB (2,5''), LiteOn CDRW

It didn't ruin any of my hardware (except itself). The thing literally went through a melt-down. Most of the capacitors blew; the fan seized and melted itself to the motor, and a burning smell.

That’s basically it

 PSU meltdown? At least no china syndrome...;) Hmmm... I think I´ll have a look at the bowels of my PSU soon...

hehe

i don't think i've ever had a PSU go out on me

right now im running dual PSU's

i got an ATX and an AT one is 400watt and one is 250 watts

the 250 powers my 3 SCSI harddrives and both my internal cdrom/cdrw drives

and the fans that are in it's portion of the case

the 400watt has everything else

i wanna try that dual ATX power supply deal, that looks neat and would be fun to attempt
