[Query] AGP4X card one BP6

hi all, can i put a AGP 4X card on my Abit BP6???

i'm intending to get an Inno3D Ti-4200 on my Abit BP6.

yeah but it will operate in 2x mode, the AGP slot should be universal but some cards don't have the right slots cut out
I'm pretty sure the TI4200 is backwards compatable

the board supplies 3.3V while the agp card is 1.5v, will it damage the card???

if it fits then it shouldn't be a problem
they designed the agp slots in a way so that if it wasn't backwards or forwards compatable then the card won't fit
check with the board manufacture it shoudl say something like 1x 2x 4x compatable
the power issue will be delt with by the board itself if it's compatable. pins pins pins w00t

It IS compatible. BP6 accepts even 8X AGP cards, as I have now there my GF4Ti4200-8X. But the only drawback is the 2X operational mode which is the fastest mode for BP6.

the power usage problem might occur, but it did not with mine yet, though as I remember, i had real stability problems with GF2MX on BP6.

Just stick it in and that's all right to go!

you are in danger for the mobo and the card only if you put 1-2x card into 8X capablemobo

I have a Radeon 9700 Pro in my BP6 machine at the moment without any problems.

Derek, what are you smoking?!
saying that the 9700 is a little overkill for a board this old is an understatement. pull that card out and place it with some nice gigahertz machine.
My bp6 is only using a Voodoo3 and an ATI 128Rage and it's more than sufficent

i was about to buy the Inno3D Ti-4200 from a 2nd hand shop, but i was a bit late..

in the end i went to get a 1st hand ATI Radeon 7000 32mb.. it's working well right now..

thanks.. 9700 Pro on a BP6 is definitely an overkill..

anyway, i'm using MSI TI-4200VTD8X on my Creative Slix SFF... and already i find it an overkill...
