The P-III 1100E chips that I received from Que Computed were both "SL..." spec chips - which are supposed to be SMP capable.
I think most, if not all, 1100E & 1000E chips will have the correct stepping to allow SMP, since they came into production later in the P-III manufacturing cycle. Very hard to get these now.
Whats the fastest SMP chips i can put on my BP6?
1100E and 1000E cpu's
According to Intel they only made 1100ES's (OEM chips only!)that are at 100Mhz FSB, the 1000E's are actually 1000EB's that are 133 FSB only, but again, regardless of stepping, ALL PIII's were/are SMP enabled!
I have a Tyan dual PIII 866EB along with my BP6, do you think it's worthwhile to mod my BP6 to take PIII's?
Like fiddeling around with a solering iron and are sufficiently skilled.
Im thinking that even 100-108 * 6.5 would bring quite a boost in performance over those Celly's but dont know if it's worth all the troubble.
But would like to see the performance on the BX.
If I do it then I'll need two new CPU's for my Tyan box which was the plan anyway.

you can even put an pIII tualatin on a bp6..........i am willing to try it out........IF i had money it's qtuie difficult though......
