Hi, it is a hub/gear puller, some do have sliders as you mentioned in order to shock things apart, like a slide hammer.

3 legged ones are fairly common place, somewhere I do have one very similar to the one used here.... I will try to attach an image of one for reference....

I have not benchmarked my Highpoint on Linux... but the later posts here may explain something I have experienced.... IE that I have been running a pair of 250Gb drives on my Highpoint controller (OpenBsd) for some years and not seen any real problems even when filled beyond 200Gb each.... mind you ...

I know this thread has not moved for ages, however my BP6s are still running strong with their replacement capacitors. I know a lot of disbelievers slated me for using such relatively large value capacitors. FWIW ALL of the 1000uF and 1500uF caps were replaced with 4700uF, as was the infamous EC10. ...

I will let you know, only big issue I have seen with RC1 is "windows scaling" I believe packets can be too long for some routers hence no internet!
