That's what so weird about this. Either WCPUID is completely wrong or something funky is happening at the BIOS level. I still think it's freaky that I can only go to 8x100Mhz in the BIOS and it sees it as a 1128MHz CPU. The benchmarks I ran before and afterward show about a 20% increase in performan...

Thanks for the offer RRLedford, but I had a buddy of mine give me one from an old system he had where the mobo died. When I was upgrading it, I went into the SOFT CPU settings to set the FSB and CPU voltage and noticed the multiplier only went up to 8 (8x100=800, right?). Well, I set it there and wh...

Derek - Yeah, I was thinking about getting a PIII, but I've seen them cost twice as much as the Cele's, so in the price vs. performance upgrade for my second machine- I'm going to go on the cheap end here. HAL6000 - I've seen them for sale and was thinking about buying them. Hey, if it'll work right...

Opinions about upgrading to a Celeron 1100
I'm already running a Cele 800 with the Neo adapter. I found the Cele 1100, 100MHz FSB with 128k of cache for about $40 and I'm thinking of upgrading it. Think I should??? Is anyone else running the 1100s with the Neo adapter? Will the HSF that came with the Neo keep an 1100 cool enough? P.S. - I on...

The newer CDRWs support a format called "Mount Rainier". This means that data can be dragged and dropped to a CD-RW just as if you were writing to a floppy or a hard disk. And the formatting goes on in the background.

FYI - New 0.13-micron, 2GHz Celeron hits the market
Not that we'll ever see these running in our BP6s or anything, but for what it's worth; http://www.digitimes.com/NewsShow/Article.asp?datePublish=2002/09/18&pages=04&seq=18 snippet; "Skipping its originally-planned 1.9GHz version, Intel recently introduced a new Socket 478-based Celeron proces...

If you need the 256K cache, the P-III 850E-1100E chips are what you need & they are getting harder to find every month. So, could I just drop a PIII 1100E chip into my Powerleap? What other mods (hardware and software) would I have to make? I know I'll need the BIOS update with the PIII micro-code,...
